Netflix's 'Tiny Pretty Things'
Tiny Pretty Things follows Neveah Stroyer, played by Kylie Jefferson, the new girl of Archer School of Ballet. Neveah quickly learns the drama and difficulties of being a ballerina at an elite dance school.
The stakes are high and even deathly, as the trailer showcases the death of student Cassie Shore after falling outside a fourth story window.
Based on a Book
Written by New York Times bestselling author Dhonielle Clayton and Sona Charaipotra, Tiny Pretty Things is a 2015 novel described as the mixture of Black Swan (2010) and Pretty Little Liars (2010-2017).
Actor Alexander Eling describes the television adaptation stating,
"It keeps close to what the book holds and does so amazing, but we add some fun stuff."
Actors Turned Ballerinas
Eling goes on to praise his fellow co-stars who he says did the dancing scenes themselves.
"All the actors that are the ballet dancers on the show do all their own dancing. There's no doubles. They all do it themselves and I did not know how hard ballet really was. I have such a newfound respect for ballerinas."
Cast
Kylie Jefferson stars at Archer School of Ballet's new student Neveah Stroyer. Jefferson was the youngest student ever accepted into the Debbie Allen Dance Academy and is currently a contemporary ballet dancer and choreographer based in Los Angeles. Tiny Pretty Things stands as Jefferson's debut television role.
Lauren Holly
Known for her role as Mary in Dumb and Dumber (1994) and Maxine Stewart in Picket Fences (1992-1996), Lauren Holly plays Monique Dubois, a former dancer-turned-director of the Archer School of Ballet who will do anything to protect her institution.
Casimere Jollette
Casimere Jollette is a dancer and model known for her roles as Skylar in Dirty John (2018-present) and Danica Fields in Code Black (2016-2018). Jollette plays Bette Whitlaw, a ruthlessly perfect ballerina who works harder than anyone to get to the top.
Barton Cowperthwaite
Barton Cowperthwaite is a dancer known for his appearances in FX's Fosse/ Verdon (2019) and Damon in Center Stage: On Pointe (2016). Cowperthwaite plays Oren Lennox.
