On Sunday, June 12, country singer Toby Keith revealed he was diagnosed with stomach cancer.

Keith opened up on Instagram, sharing that he was diagnosed last fall. For the past six months, the 60-year-old singer has been partaking in chemotherapy and radiation, as well as undergoing surgery.

He wrote,

"So far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover and relax."

But not even cancer has stopped Keith from performing. Right now, the country star is on tour for his new album "Peso in My Pocket." As of now, he is scheduled to appear in Illinois and Michigan on June 17 and 18.

"Peso In My Pocket," which was released last year, was the first album Keith had released in the past five years.

In an interview with People Magazine from last October, the artist revealed how he came up with the toons on his new album.

"I'd look at the song ideas I had in my phone before I started running, and then I would take off," Keith shared. "Next thing I know, my time would be up, and I'd have been constantly working, grinding gears in my head about the songs. I'd get back and put on my recorder on my phone and I would lay down what I got."

Before his own bout with cancer, the Oklahoma native had already been a long-time advocate for those struggling with the disease. In 2006, he founded the Toby Keith Foundation to provide support for children with cancer. Since then, the foundation has opened OK Kids Korral, a free adolescent cancer treatment center located in Oklahoma City.
