From wrangling cattle to bidding on livestock, these cowboys are put to the test with real-life challenges set to discover who's the best cattleman in all the land.

Host Trace Adkins Returns for Season Two

Country music star Trace Adkins returns as the host for the second season of the cowboy competition show.

Adkins is no stranger to the cowboy lifestyle, even writing the hit "Ain't That Kind of Cowboy." Adkins sat down with Advocate Channel to discuss the meaning of the song.

"The point of the song was I ain't that kind of cowboy. I'm not just gonna ride away and leave you here. I'm gonna stick this out and see it through and that's, you know, that's what all these folks did. They were not gonna ride off into the sunset until I told them to."

Adkins discusses his role as the host, as well as the premise of the series, saying,

"14 cowboys competing with one another every day to see who's the ultimate cowboy and I'm the guy that fires somebody at the end of every task and send somebody home and I'm the one that chooses the ultimate cowboy. So, it's a cowboy competition and it's the real thing."

The Ultimate Tests

Host Trace Adkins describes the competition as,

"'The Apprentice' on horseback."

Contestants are faced with a new challenge every week, from wrangling to lake diving, that are set to be mentally and physically tough.

The Real Deal

Adkins emphasizes that the show is as real as it gets,

"When people watch 'Ultimate Cowboy Showdown' this season that we did our job by impressing on them that what they're seeing is real. This is not some scripted, orchestrated thing by anybody. This is real. I mean, these challenges that these cowboys were faced with are real and they're really having to do this stuff."

The show set out to find actual cowboys who are skilled ropers, rodeo competitors, and so on.

"Every one of these people that showed up were legit working cowboys, you know, everybody that showed up this year had a reason to be there. They were the real deal."

To see these professionals in action, make sure to catch the Season 2 premiere of Ultimate Cowboy Showdown tonight at 9 pm EST, only on INSP.
