Dash and Lily is a new Netflix Original rom-com series premiering today, and one of the stars, Troy Iwata, connected with our senior correspondent and Endless Hustle Podcast host Arthur Kade to talk about the new show.

Dash and Lily is based on a New York Times bestselling book entitled Dash and Lily's Book of Dares. It is an eight episode holiday rom-com that takes place in New York City and follows Dash and Lily's possible romance, after Dash finds a mysterious journal at the Strand Bookstore, which leads him to track down Lily.

Troy Iwata stars as Lily's brother Langston in the show.

"He's this hopelessly romantic, perfectly immature person who is trying to help his little sister find that special holiday someone."

Iwata, who is gay and biracial himself, is excited about the representation and diversity that reflects his own life in the show.

"Langston is this quirky, snarky dude, who just happens to be gay, and his family accepts and celebrates that, and I think that's a really important message of hope."
