Television Returns to Remote as Stars Test Positive

Whoopi Goldberg and Seth Meyers have both tested positive for Covid-19, causing cancellations across the board.

With the rise of Omicron, many workplaces are temporarily reverting to a remote format, and television is no exception.

The View returned from hiatus on Monday only for viewers to find the panelists filming from their living rooms. Co-host Joy Behar informed audiences that this setup was only temporary, stating,

“I'm praying that it's just a week, but you never know because this omicron thing is all over the place.”

Behar also revealed to fans that Whoopi Goldberg had unfortunately tested positive for Covid-19 over the break. Goldberg’s symptoms are reportedly mild, and Behar estimated her return to the show as early as next week.

Seth Meyers also announced today that he has tested positive for Covid, and is therefore cancelling a week of Late Night shows.

"The bad news is, I tested positive for COVID (thanks, 2022!) the good news is, I feel fine (thanks vaccines and booster!) We are canceling the rest of the shows this week, so tune in next Monday to see what cool location we will try and pass off as a studio!!!"

While the View has other hosts to continue filming, Late Night is not so lucky. Though, neither are alone in their struggle to film remotely. Saturday Night Live also had to rework its holiday special, which featured no musical guest and no studio audience.

Meyers and Goldberg are just two that have tested positive recently in a long list of celebrities, which includes Hugh Jackman, Brian May, Debra Messing, Charlie Puth and countless others. The CDC reminds us to remain cautious, just as Meyers and Goldberg remind us that anyone can become infected.

Like many, Meyers and Goldberg are seeing a positive Covid test despite being vaccinated and boosted. Health experts warn that testing positive is still possible even with all three vaccines, and strongly suggest taking further precautions. Both The View and Late Night With Seth Meyers encourage everyone to stay safe and wish their hosts speedy recoveries.
