'Dancing With The Stars' | ABC

This past summer, it was announced that former host Tom Bergeron would be leaving Dancing With The Stars after 15 years and 28 seasons of being on the show. In his place, the show hired its second ever host, Tyra Banks to host its current 29th season. With his departure came little explanation, but he has recently been a guest on The Stuttering John Podcast and opened up a bit more.

When Bergeron's departure from the show was announced, he posted a brief tweet, only expressing gratitude for the gig but fans were still left to wonder why he was leaving.

Bergeron Has Moved On

Last week, after joining John Melendez on his podcast, The Stuttering John Podcast, he was asked if he misses the show. Bergeron straight away responded with a "No," explaining:

"No, because it started changing early in 2018. There were staff changes and, I think, philosophical changes about how to do the show. So I miss the earlier years. I miss up until that point when it had a different vibe, a different feel. No, I'm kind of digging this time off and I'm quite capable of being very lazy."

Along with Bergeron's termination was his co-host Erin Andrews, who joined him on the show in 2014. According to the show's executive producer, Andrew Llinares, any long-running show needs a revamping every so often, so moving some people around was necessary to keep things fresh.

Onto A New Routine

Tom Bergeron has been in the television business for decades now, previously hosting America's Funniest Home Videos and FX's morning show Breakfast Time in the '90s, if you want to go back a bit more. He talks about how he isn't actively looking for a new hosting job quite yet:

"I never say never. But, I've hosted, as you've pointed out, so many different formats. I'm not really looking to work a lot, five days a week. Now, I'm 65, I've got some money in the bank. I'm enjoying my life."

Bergeron has been taking things slow at this point in his career. This past spring, Bergeron was revealed to be a contestant on The Masked Singer, having been the Taco and singing for three episodes before getting eliminated.

It is safe to say that former DWTS host Tom Bergeron has had a good run and is adjusted to his career change.
