It has been a long year for all of us and one star who wishes for a better year ahead is Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp.

Depp took to social media posting a black and white photo showing him with legendary frontman Shane MacGowan of the punk rock band, Pogues. Depp posted:

This year has been so hard for so many. Here's to a better time ahead," Depp wrote in the Instagram caption. "Happy Holidays, everyone! My love and respect to you all. Eternally, JD.

The photo is from the new documentary Depp produced, Crock of Gold: A Few Rounds with Shane MacGowan and currently has almost 2 million likes. The past year for the long time actor has been stressful as he announced he wouldn't return to the Fantastic Beasts film series as the studio asked him to resign due to recent events due of the ongoing court battle with his ex-wife Amber Heard. It was announced that Mads Mikkelsen would take over Depp's role as villain Gellert Grindelwald. Last week during a very public ongoing court battle with his ex-wife, Depp filed new documents in the appeals court requesting a new trial.
