The new Netflix drama Away debuted less than two months ago on September 4th, and Netflix just announced it will not be renewed for a second season.

The show was created by Andrew Hinderaker and follows Emma Green, played by Hilary Swank, as she embarks on a dangerous journey to Mars, leaving her daughter and husband on Earth. The show also stars Ray Panthaki, Josh Charles, Talitha Bateman, and Ato Essandoh.

In September, Away was among Netflix's top ten series according to their own rankings, and even held the number one spot for a few days after its initial release. The show also had fans hoping for a second season. Netflix decides which shows to renew by comparing the cost of production and the relative success and amount of streaming the show gets. Netflix has recently had to cut back costs and cancel other shows, which were initially renewed, due to COVID-19.

The first season of Away has ten episodes and is available to stream on Netflix.
