Marvel Honors Chadwick Boseman's Birthday Through The 'Black Panther' Opening Sequence

The late Chadwick Boseman's birthday was on November 29 and to honor the hero, Marvel redesigned the opening sequence of the film 'Black Panther' where Boseman played the iconic role of T'Challa.

As many are still mourning the loss of actor Chadwick Boseman, Marvel commemorated the late actor's work by editing the opening sequence of Black Panther highlighting the on and off screen work of Boseman.


The Life of Chadwick Boseman

Chadwick Boseman was a hard worker who started from the bottom in order to attain the position he was in before his passing. As a background actor, Boseman worked his way up to recurring roles on television series, such as Lincoln Heights (2007-2009) and Persons Unknown (2010).

Boseman's Breakout Role

Boseman portrayed the life of baseball legend Jackie Robinson in 42 (2013). The film followed the life of Jackie Robinson as he became the first African-American to play for a Major League Baseball team when he was signed to the Brooklyn Dodgers. The film highlights the racism and oppression of a Black trailblazer and the strength it takes to persevere through hatred.

After this role, Boseman began to kick off his career which eventually led him to landing the role of T'Challa in the Marvel franchise.

The Black Panther

Black Panther was released in 2018 and gained a huge following. The film has earned numerous awards including Oscars and Screen Actors Guild Awards. The film features an all Black ensemble and stands for Black representation and storytelling.

'Black Panther II' Announcement

Marvel Studios announced the second Black Panther film on August 24, 2019, four days before the sudden passing of Chadwick Boseman.

The Loss of a Hero

Chadwick Boseman passed away of a four year battle with colon cancer on August 28, 2020. The actor's Instagram confirmed the passing and stated that he passed with his family and wife, Simone Ledward, by his side.

A Tribute to Chadwick Boseman

Walt Disney executive Robert Iger took to his Twitter to announce the tribute to the late actor who he states,

"will always be near and dear to our hearts."

The tribute features pieces of script, behind-the-scenes moments of Boseman, and clips of the Black Panther in action. Notable pieces of script read some of T'Challa's most notable mantras,

"In times of crisis, the wise build bridges while the foolish build barriers."

The tribute also features Boseman holding up the Wakanda Forever signal as a reminder that his legacy will always be remembered.

Boseman will not only be remembered for his roles, but for his consistent advocacy of social justice and treating others with kindness.

Chadwick Boseman will be remembered dearly as his legacy lives on.
