Award winning actors and comedians have come from the towns of Kansas City and Tampa Bay, both of which are under bright lights as they face in the Super Bowl this Sunday.


Kansas City Natives

Okay, so Eric Stonestreet isn't technically from the right Kansas City, however it would be disgraceful to not include him in this list.

Eric Stonestreet of Modern Family (2009-2020) is one of the most proud Kansas City natives. Stonestreet was born in Kansas City, Kansas and attended Kansas State University before moving to Los Angeles to begin his acting career.

Paul Rudd

Paul Rudd grew up in Kansas City, Missouri as his mother was a sales manager at KCMO-TV. His family went on to move to the state of Kansas where Rudd not only graduated from high school, but also college where he received an acting degree from the University of Kansas.

Rudd is now known for his roles in Clueless (1995), Parks and Recreation (2009-2015), and as Ant-Man in Marvel's Avengers franchise.

Ellie Kemper

Ellie Kemper is an actress and comedian widely known for her roles as Kimmy Schmidt in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt(2015-2019) and Erin in The Office (2005-2013).

The Emmy nominee was born in Kansas City, Missouri before moving to St. Louis and eventually attending Princeton University for a Bachelor's in English.

Jason Sudeikis

The SNL (1975-) star was born in Virginia, moved to Kansas, and began performing at Comedy City in Kansas City, Missouri during his youth.

The We're the Millers (2013) lead has been nominated for a 2021 Golden Globe and currently stars in Apple TV's Ted Lasso (2020-).

Heidi Gardner

Heidi Gardner is a current cast member of Saturday Night Live. Gardner was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri before moving to Los Angeles to pursue haircutting and acting.

Gardner acted alongside Melissa McCarthy in Life of the Party (2018) and has guest starred on Superstore (2015-) and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt alongside her Kansas City sister, Ellie Kemper.

Tampa Bay Babies

The stars of Tampa Bay aren't too shabby themselves. Golden Globe and Emmy winner Sarah Paulson was born in Tampa, Florida before relocating to Maine and eventually New York.

The actress is widely known for her work in American Horror Story (2011-2021), 12 Years a Slave (2013), and Carol (2015).

Channing Tatum

Actor Channing Tatum was born in Alabama, moved to Mississippi, and landed in Tampa during his teen years. Tatum graduated from Tampa Catholic High School before attending Glenville State College.

Starting out in modeling, Tatum has moved on to big films, such as She's the Man (2006), 21 Jump Street (2012), and White House Down (2013).

Dreama Walker

Dreama Walker was born and raised in Tampa, Florida and graduated from Plant High School. Walker recently played Connie Stevens in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019) and starred in Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23 (2012-2013).

Hulk Hogan

The Wrestle God Hulk Hogan was born in Georgia, but grew up in Port Tampa. Hogan has gone on to become one of the most well-known WrestleMania stars and is still a big supporter of his Tampa Bay roots.

Angela Bassett

Golden Globe winning actress Angela Bassett was born in New York City and moved to the Tampa Bay area in her teens, specifically St. Pete. Bassett then attended Yale University for a Bachelor's in African-American studies and a Master's in Drama.

Bassett has gone on to star in Strange Days (1995) and Black Panther (2018) as Ramonda, T'Challa's (Chadwick Boseman) mother.

Regardless of who comes out of Sunday victorious, we still have a lot to be thankful for from these towns.

The Kansas City Chiefs face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this Sunday at the Super Bowl LV.
