Celebrities are using their widely followed platforms to advocate for change after the death of 20-year-old Daunte Wright by an officer who used her gun instead of taser after pulling Wright over for a traffic violation.

Trevor Noah

The Daily Show (1996-) host Trevor Noah sat down in his at-home set to talk about the state of Black American lives today. With week three of the Derek Chauvin trial underway, Minneapolis has broken in protests, but for yet another murder of an unarmed Black man, Daunte Wright.

Noah explains that the fact the Brooklyn Center officer felt the need to pull out a weapon in the first place showcases the issue itself. Meanwhile in Virginia, a lawsuit is in place after Black Latino Army lieutenant Caron Nazario was pulled over for tinted windows and a paper license plate leading to him being pepper sprayed and arrested.

Noah ends his reports with his call to action,

"The reason they don't care is because they know they're gonna get away with it and until that changes they're just gonna keep not caring."

The Obamas

Both Barack and Michelle Obama released a joint statement on their remorse after the shooting of Daunte Wright noting back to the death of George Floyd stating,

"The fact that this could happen even as the city of Minneapolis is going through the trial of Derek Chauvin and reliving the heart-wrenching murder of George Floyd indicates ... how badly we need to reimagine policing and public safety in this country."

Sending their condolences to the Wright family and Black families everywhere, the Obamas linked resources for various organizations.

Jamie Foxx

Jamie Foxx sent his condolences to the Wright family stating Wright deserved better.

Kerry Washington

Actress Kerry Washington took to her Twitter stating Wright should still be alive and sends her love,

"to all Black people who are tired of waking up to tragedy after tragedy."

George Takei

"How could any citizen feel safe around her?"

Ray Fisher

Kathy Griffin

Actress Kathy Griffin questions the Brooklyn Center cop's intentions stating,

"to even try to justify tasing this young man is ridiculous."

Common

Rapper Common shared an image of Wright and his daughter to his Instagram shouting,

"We cannot get comfortable!"

Regina King

Actress and director Regina King quoted a tweet by Walter Masterson on Twitter. Masterson revealed the reason for Wright's warrant was due to the fact that the notice of his hearing was sent to the wrong address.

King comments stating,

"Here we are saying prayers for ANOTHER family because ANOTHER reckless officer exposed themself at the expense of ANOTHER Black human being. I'm so sorry Daunte Wright. You are so much more than...ANOTHER."

We send our love to the Wright family at this time. Daunte Wright deserved better. Black families everywhere deserve better. We need a change before more lives are taken.
