Harry Connick Jr.

As the cast for NBC's Annie Live! begins to take shape, the actor playing Daddy Warbucks has finally been announced. Multiple Emmy and Grammy Award-winning singer, pianist, composer, and actor Harry Connick Jr. will be taking on the iconic role of the billionaire with a heart of gold in the live production of the Tony-winning musical later this year.

Connick, who has appeared alongside actors such as Ashley Judd and Jennifer Lopez, is no stranger to Broadway. He composed music for 2001's Thou Shalt Not and appeared in musicals such as On a Clear Day You Can See Forever and The Pajama Game. His music and lyrics were once nominated for a Tony Award, and in 2019 he even created a Broadway production of his own: Harry Connick Jr. — A Celebration of Cole Porter.

Beyond this, Connick has appeared in films such as The Happy Elf and Dolphin Tale. He also hosted the groundbreaking TV miniseries, 100 Biggest Weather Moments, and appeared as a mentor in several seasons of American Idol. With a resume like his, it's clear that this latest adaptation of Annie will be something to behold.

The hit musical first debuted in 1977, inspired by the Harold Gray comic strip Little Orphan Annie. This new production stars Taraji P. Henson as the unscrupulous Miss Hannigan, but the search for an actress to play the zesty titular role is still ongoing. Annie Live! premieres Thursday, December 2nd, on NBC.
