This holiday special could be the start of something new! Or at least, a new holiday tradition. High School Musical: The Musical: The Holiday Special is coming soon!

Fans of the Disney Channel original movies were ecstatic to find out a High School Musical series would be coming to the Disney Plus streaming service. Following the huge success of the show which can be watched anytime on the digital platform, a season two was immediately ordered and scheduled for production.

The entire cast and crew reunited back in February to begin filming for the upcoming season. However, production came to an unexpected halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Because of this, the release of season two has been pushed back to an unannounced date.

In lieu of the release of season two, and just as a gift for all those wildcats out there, on December 11th Disney Plus is gifting subscribers with High School Musical: The Musical: The Holiday Special.

Along with the special, an all new soundtrack will be released which features an original song written and performed by Bassett.

There will also be a sneak peek of one of the musical number featured in the upcoming second season.
