'I'm a Total Fraud:' Larry David Gets Candid in HBO Documentary

Curb Your Enthusiasm and Seinfeld brainpower gets candid in new docuseries.

No need to curb your enthusiasm for this one--Larry David has made a documentary!

The legendary comedian is coming to HBO with a two-part documentary about his life and career, The Larry David Story. With episodes titled “The American Jewboy” and “The Jewish Fountainhead," HBO promises a comedic tribute to one of the greats, stating,

"David will get candid about his personal and professional highs and lows, from his humble beginnings as an unfunny Brooklyn kid to becoming America’s favorite misanthrope."

A teaser trailer dropped Wednesday that saw director and friend of David's, Larry Charles, interviewing the Seinfeld creator. David recalls from the earlier moments in his career,

“Twenty-five years old, I didn’t know what I wanted to do. Well, what do you do when you’re talking and people are laughing? You do comedy. I never thought of myself as being funny. Anything I was associated with that could be successful was a shock.”

After the end of Seinfeld, David went on to create Curb Your Enthusiasm, a show where he played a satirical version of himself. Despite being nominated for forty seven Emmy Awards, and winning the 2002 Golden Globe Award for “Best Television Series,” David still struggles with imposter syndrome.

“I’m a total fraud. The ‘Curb’ outlet, for me, is this guy who I want to be. He’s completely honest, just the opposite of who I am.”

The documentary promises to give David's opinions on metaphysics parenthood, while diving deeper into his Hollywood memories. The Larry David Story releases March 1 at 10pm on HBO and on HBO Max.
