Lorde Announces New Album and Tour

Lorde

After a four year hiatus, Lorde is back with a much anticipated new album and tour.

The 24 year old New Zealand native Ella Yelich O'Connor launched into fame with her 2013 single "Royals" at the age of 16. In 2017, she released her sophomore album, Melodrama, to critical acclaim, featuring singles such as "Green Light" and "Liability."

In early June 2021, she leaked her single Solar Power, the namesake of her new album. The track is about escaping seasonal depression as the weather heats up and the days become longer, with memorable lyrics such as "I'm kinda like a prettier Jesus."

On June 21st, Lorde announced the release date of her third album to be August 20, 2021, with a 12 title track list. She also plans to tour starting in February 2022, starting in New Zealand, then traveling to the USA and Canada before hitting the UK and Europe in the summer.

As an eco-conscious alternative to a CD, the album will come with a "music box" containing a download key to the songs along with handwritten notes and exclusive images. Concept wise, the album is about Lorde's deep spiritual connection with the outdoors and the environment.
