In this Music Mix, we discuss Carrie Underwood's new holiday project coming this fall - and our Nashville correspondent Sam Alex tells us about the biggest country names right now and their upcoming albums.

Carrie Underwood Releases Christmas Album

Like Carrie said, it's here! The country star's new Christmas album, My Gift, just released to listeners today. It's not quite the holiday season yet, but it's never too early to get in the Christmas spirit - and that's exactly what Carrie Underwood's thoughts were when making this album. She said:

"Even though it has been a tough year, sometimes I feel like the greatest realizations can come at the worst times or in the most stressful times, and it makes you more thankful for the things that you do have."

Underwood started recording for My Gift during the coronavirus pandemic, working remotely with her producer and crew.

Waiting All Day For Sunday Night

The country queen is also back for the NFL football season, as she will open NBC's Sunday Night Football broadcasts for the 2020-2021 year. This is her 8th year working with the NFL, and this year's theme song is called Waiting All Day For Sunday Night. She believes people need Sunday night football more now than ever:

"I think people need Sunday night football. Fans can all kind of unite for a few hours, and they get to cheer on their favorite teams - and we need that bit of normalcy, even if we're going about it in a slightly different way."

Celebrity Page Nashville correspondent tells us all of the new country releases happening soon - including Dolly Parton's new Christmas album!

Parton's new Christmas album, A Holly Dolly Christmas, will be released on October 3rd - and it's her first holiday album in nearly 30 years! Sam Alex said:

"She's got some classics, but also has some new original songs and tons of duets including one with her goddaughter Miley Cyrus, Billy Ray Cyrus, Willie Nelson, and Jimmy Fallon."

Alex also tells us about Keith Urban's new album, The Speed of Now Part 1. A lot of the album was inspired by the pandemic, as Urban was finishing it during quarantine. Alex said:

"There's even a song called 'Out the Cage' which is something we can all relate too, that is escaping our homes and social distancing."

Be on the lookout for more upcoming music just in this month from Brothers Osborne, Trace Adkins, and Wynonna Judd.

Little People, Big World

Youtube

Kicking off this week's Reality Reel, TLC's Little People, Big World is preparing to say goodbye to its latest season and part of the family's past. The show, which follows the Roloffs as they upkeep their family farm while navigating life at four feet tall, has been airing since 2006.

Over fourteen years later, the family is wrapping up on season 21.

This ending of a season is especially bittersweet as the Roloffs are packing up to move and saying goodbye to the farm and family home.

Amy Rollof told us how hard it has been to make the adjustment.

"You sometimes don't think that you can get through it. And moving...I was like "where am I gonna go?" Like, my life is forever changing."

She went on to reveal the hardest part of it all...

"It's always been hard for me to watch my own show. To tell you the truth that is the hardest thing about doing this show for so many years."

Counting down to the season finale, Amy has been doing Instagram live sessions where she answers fans questions while sharing some favorite recipes. She currently runs her own shop called "Amy Roloff's Little Kitchen" where she sells home goods, kitchen supplies, apparel and more.

Check out this new series: I Love a Mama's Boy

The trailer is as awkward as it sounds. On this new show, viewers follow a few couples across the country who bud heads over who the most important woman is in a relationship. While the girlfriends are certain their priorities should come first, their boyfriends are convinced that mother knows best.

We talked to just one of the couples, Emily and Shekeb, ahead of the season premiere.

Explaining the situation, Emily said:

"I'm never, you know, prioritized in his life. You know...in my eyes, I wanna be number one."

Shekeb gave his response:

"It's not so bad though. I'm trying to keep the balance."

We hope to see the two find some middle ground on the show!

I Love a Mama's Boy premiers October 35th on TLC.
