Raya and the Last Dragon

Walt Disney Studios

Early this morning, Disney premiered the trailer for its newest heroin leading film on Good Morning America. The new movie, Raya and the Last Dragon, will get a theatrical release March 12, 2021.

Raya is a young warrior who has been training her whole life to be a guardian of the dragon gem. But, as the world's people remain divided, Raya must track down the legendary last dragon in order to restore peace and save Kumandra. Throughout her journey, she is joined by sidekick Tuk Tuk and eventually comes across the water dragon Sisu, played by Akwafina.

Star Wars actress Kelly Marie Tran provides the voice of Raya alongside Crazy Rich Asians star Awkwafina as Sisu.

The film also holds a very impressive production team. Directors Don Hall and Carlos López Estrada, co-directors Paul Briggs and John Ripa, and producers Osnat Shurer and Peter Del Vecho came together to make the film possible. Their list of credits include the Disney hits Big Hero 6, Moana, and Frozen 2.
