The Yellowstone franchise is expanding once again with Taylor Sheridan's new prequel, 1932.


Paramount+ confirmed the news of the prequel series along with the announcement that the streaming service has also renewed the first prequel1883 for a second season.

While little else is known about 1932 at the moment, Paramount+ provided a brief description of what viewers could expect.

"[1932] will follow a new generation of Duttons during the time of western expansion, Prohibition and the Great Depression."

Taylor Sheridan's latest western drama will continue to be produced by Yellowstone and 1883 producers MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios.

ViacomCBS Media Networks and MTV Entertainment Studios president and CEO Chris McCarthy, commented on the growing Yellowstone universe, saying,

“With the brilliant mind and gifted storytelling of Taylor Sheridan, we have created an entirely new world to explore with 1883 while expanding Yellowstone, and with 1932 we will open up a new chapter in this rapidly growing universe."

Yellowstone, which was recently renewed for a fifth season, features Kevin Costner as the present-day patriarch of the sixth generation Dutton ranching family, while 1883, which explores the Dutton family roots, stars real-life couple Tim McGraw and Faith Hill alongside acting vet Sam Elliott.

No further information has been released about the cast or premiere date of 1932.
