Pierre Cardin

Legendary fashion designer, Pierre Cardin has passed away at the age of 98. From his one-of-a-kind designs to becoming a staple in the fashion industry, Pierre Cardin has influenced the fashion world in unimaginable ways.

Cardin's death was confirmed this morning by The French Academy of Fine Arts through Twitter. His family released a statement sharing:

"This is a day of great sadness for all our family. Pierre Cardin is no longer. The great couturier that he was, has crossed the century, leaving France and the world a unique artistic heritage, but not only, in fashion. We are all proud of his tenacious ambition and the daring he has shown throughout his life. A modern man of many talents and inexhaustible energy, he joined the flow of the world very early on in the globalization of goods and trade."

Cardin broke fashion standards with his futuristic designs, as well as his production of unisex and ready-to-wear collections. Cardin was also one of the first designers to open stores in Japan, China, and Russia. His designs always featured an element of the future and were never like anything anyone has ever seen before. In 2014, the designer opened a museum in Paris to showcase some of his most legendary designs.

Pierre Cardin has left a true mark in fashion and will never be forgotten.
