Hallmark has a new mystery in Cut, Color, Murder.

Starring Ryan McPartlin and Julie Gonzalo, the movie kicks off a potential mystery franchise.

In this film, a beauty pageant goes wrong when a creator dies at the event, so a detective teams up with a hairdresser to uncover the crime.

McPartlin, playing Detective Kyle Crawford, also co-wrote the script for the film.

"I sat down Jason Flaherty and Walt Becker and we sat in a diner. We said,
'Hey, if we were to write one of these Hallmark mysteries...what would we want it to be? Let's make it a hairstylist beautician. And then, let's give her a partner that she's gonna work with. It's the new guy. It's the new detective in town.'"

For Gonzalo, she had to take on the role of the hairdresser.

"You always hear about hairstylists...they're kind of a therapy. You go get your hair done and you just chat, you tell them everything for some reason."

Catch the premiere of Cut, Color, Murder February 6th on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
