Both singers have posted an Instagram story sharing that while their relationship may be over, the love they feel for each other is still strong.

"We've decided to end our romantic relationship, but our love for one another is stronger than ever."

The two have decided to remain best friends, thanking the fans who showed their love and support during their relationship.

"We started our relationship as best friends and will continue to be best friends."

Their last Instagram picture together was in honor of the Day of the Dead (Día De Los Muertos), where they had dressed up and danced together.

The two had known each other since 2014, when Cabello was still a solid member of the group Fifth Harmony. They met again the following year backstage at Taylor Swift's 1989 World Tour concert and wrote a song together titled "I Know What You Did Last Summer," which came out in late 2015.

But it's with "Señorita" that the two have officially started dating in 2019 - they specifically broke the internet with their intimate and sensual performance of their hit during the 2019 MTV Music Awards. They then performed together at the American Music Awards of the same year.

Mendes and Cabello have been inseparable during the pandemic, quarantining together in Miami. This past summer, they have both released new music - Mendes a romantic song titled "Summer Of Love," and Cabello a new single "Don't Go Yet" from her upcoming album.

Furthermore, Mendes has always admitted that Cabello has been the main inspiration for his love songs - his last album "Wonder" is all about their epic love. Cabello's love songs are heavily influenced by Mendes as well such as 2019's album titled "Romance," with hits like "Easy."

Although the two have officially broken up, fans can be reassured that the love they shared has not been wasted. As Mendes says in his song, it was "a delicate daydream."
