Ackles took to Instagram to share with his passionate followers about his excitement for his new role, now that his 15-year role as Dean Winchester from the CW's Supernatural has come to a close.
In a two-part photo reveal, Ackles jokes about his original idea for the costume.
Per Amazon, the character of Soldier Boy is known as the "original superhero." Based on the comics, Soldier Boy fought in World War II and was the leader of Payback, which was the second-strongest superhero team behind the Seven.
Ackles' costume reflects the grit and boldness of Soldier Boy, showcasing a dark military-green color for the suit and including a strong shield that he uses as a weapon.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Eric Kripke praised the show's Super Suit designer, Laura Jean Shannon:
"[Laura Jean] has made a work of art that tips its hat to the WWII Soldier Boy from the comics, while taking it in a sleek new direction."
To bring Soldier Boy to life, Ackles has also been following a strict work-out regiment to prepare for his new character, who is described by writers as having a large ego and being overtly masculine.
Ackles is excited to have been cast as the upcoming fan favorite character, and his new superhero look is keeping The Boys fans on their toes for more.
