Warner Bros. has once again made the decision to postpone the release date for Christopher Nolan's Tenet. This is the second delay for the film that was anticipating a high profile summer release on the big screen.

Coming to theaters in August

Christopher Nolan's action thriller Tenet is now scheduled for release Wednesday, August 12. The news comes in response to the spike of COVID-19 cases affecting the reopening of movie theaters. A Warner Bros. spokesperson says in a statement to Variety:

"Warner Bros. is committed to bringing Tenet to audiences in theaters, on the big screen, when exhibitors are ready and public health officials say it's time,. In this moment what we need to be is flexible, and we are not treating this as a traditional movie release. We are choosing to open the movie mid-week to allow audiences to discover the film in their own time, and we plan to play longer, over an extended play period far beyond the norm, to develop a very different yet successful release strategy."

Movie theaters were planning on the film's July release to bring audiences back to the movies. Warner Bros. announced they are re-releasing Nolan's 2020 blockbuster Inception on July 31 in anticipation for Tenet.
