'The Bachelorette' Recap: Ep.5

The Bachelorette: EP 5

Here's everything you might have missed last night!

All hale Queen Tayshia! The confident and energetic contestant from Colton's season has officially taken over. It's time to put the Clare and Dale "love story" aside; Tayshia has finally started her journey to finding love!

Last episode, we were left with a cliffhanger. Tayshia walked out of her limo and greeted host Chris Harrison. So what happened next? Sit back, relax and read up!

Tayshia enters the room and the men are glued to her-- Some jaws even drop. To be fair, She's beautiful, fun, warm and perky, basically a specimen created by the Bachelorette gods. So what's not to love? A few of the men even shared that what they felt just meeting hersurpassed their feelings for Clare. Yikes!

If you thought 16 men was enough for Queen T, guess again. The show brought in four new men. Honestly, it was kind of refreshing to see a group of men that still had hope in their eyes.

The new guys and old guys don't exactly mesh well, and when I say "guys," I just mean one-- Spencer. After meeting Tayshia for the first time, he enters the room of men asking, "Which one of you guys scared away Clare?" The "joke" doesn't go over well. Spencer makes it clear that he isn't here to make friends and manages to win the first impression rose. It looks like we've found ourselves a villain for this season, but we'll have to wait a little longer to see for sure.

Next up, a little detour. I know we said we were putting the Clare and Dale love story aside, so I'll try to keep this brief. The couple meets up with Chris Harrison to share how truly happy they are together. Chris puts on his investigative journalist hat and asks if they started talking before the show started. The both insist that they didn't.

Alright, back to Tayshia. The first group date kicks off, and just like that, we're back to sexualizing the contestants in the same way women are sexualized every day. The boys are told to put on speedos and play basketball in a pool. The losers must leave the pool party and the winners get to enjoy quality time with Tayshia. The blue team comes out on top with the W. Later, a cocktail party. Eazy can't control his excitement and tells Tayshia he feels like he just met his wife. He gets the rose.

Not everyone adapts well to Tayshia as the Bachelorette. After all, slow-mo walks out of the pool don't guarantee love, regardless of what ABC tries to make us believe. Jason heads to Tayshia's room to tell her he's still in love with Clare. In love? With Clare? Sounds unlikely, but this guy seems genuine, so we'll believe him. He tells Tayshia his heart just isn't in it anymore, and he must leave. Farewell to the only man affected by Clare's departure.

This week's one on one date goes to Brendan. Tayshia and Brendan have a romantic day of horseback riding and swimming in the pool. At dinner, they bond over their divorces. Sparks fly, literally-- because fireworks start to go off. Brendan receives a rose, and we're convinced this, too, could be real love.

Stay tuned for next week's episode. It's said to be as dramatic as ever!
